Kings Park and Botanic Garden

other memorials throughout the park, honours the fallen in all wars Australia has been involved

Hyde Park
This beautiful inner-city park features a lake, walking trails, playgrounds, BBQs, water fountains
and spaces for hire. Prior to European settlement the site was a camping, hunting and
ceremonial site of the Whadjuk Noongar people, and was officially named Hyde Park in 1899 –
inspired by its London counterpart.
Perth Zoo
Just five minutes from the city, Perth Zoo is home to 1,300 animals from around the world.
This includes African lions, Asian elephants, tigers, giraffes, rhinos, orangutans, bears, lemurs,
snakes, monkeys, crocodiles, kangaroos, wallabies, koalas, pandas, zebras, hyaenas and many
species of bird. Close-up encounters can be booked for behind-the-scenes interaction with the
animals, such as joining the keepers on their morning rounds.
Optus Stadium
Take a tour of the Optus Stadium, voted the Most Beautiful Stadium in the World in the Prix
Versailles 2019 international architecture awards. This 90-minute behind-the-scenes experience
of the 60,000-seat stadium includes visits to the Fremantle Dockers, West Coast Eagles and
Perth Scorchers changerooms, coaches’ room and Dennis Cometti Media Centre, and views of
the field from the best vantage points.
The Bell Tower
In Barrack Square, the towering glass spire of The Bell Tower is a magnificent sight. The Bell
Tower is one of the largest musical instruments on Earth and was custom built to house the
bells of Saint Martin-in-the-Fields Church, the parish church of London’s Buckingham Palace.
There are displays on these famous bells and the ancient art of bell ringing, and visitors can try
bell-ringing themselves.
The Perth Mint
Opened in 1899, these historic premises offer a fascinating glimpse into the world of gold
discovery. Visitors can encounter amazing gold nuggets, hold a large bullion bar and see a
demonstration of traditional gold pouring. Pride of place goes to the One Tonne Gold Coin,
holding an intrinsic value of over $90 million.

Scitech
A hands-on science museum with Australia’s largest planetarium, Scitech features six
interactive galleries, lively science performances, educational puppet shows and over 100
interactive exhibits. As a leading science education institution, Scitech aims to increase
awareness, interest, capability and participation in science, technology, engineering and
mathematics.
Other must-do attractions and activities in Perth for international students to enjoy include
visiting the fantastic beaches – the favourites being Cottesloe Beach, Leighton Beach, Mettams
Pool, Bathers Beach and City Beach, go stargazing or whale watching, check out the numerous
